Travel to Phuket, an island paradise in southern Thailand

If you think of Phuket as an island then you may be fooled into thinking it’s really small; that’s not the case. Phuket is actually around 50 kilometers (a little over 30 miles) long and it’s packed with things for you to do; you’ll never get bored on a vacation to this Thai paradise. For many years people have been flocking to Phuket as a destination full of fun and sunshine. The city of Patong is especially renowned for its party time, anything goes atmosphere. But you don’t need to worry if partying is not your thing; Phuket has plenty to offer for every type of traveler. If you want a little culture when you visit Phuket then Phuket City is the best place to head for. If you want to just lie back and relax, then Rawai is a great place to chill out. Of course, Phuket is well known for its beautiful beaches and you’ll find plenty of them, including those at Kata and Karon. And when you visit Phuket don’t forget to take a look at its natural side in Sirinat National Park and Khao Phra Thaew reserve.

You may associate Phuket with young backpackers who come here for affordable accommodation and food and while this is available on the island, in reality, Phuket is popular with travelers who like a little luxury; there are plenty of places where you can treat yourself to a day at the spa or a lavish dinner and cocktails. Anyone can get a glimpse of the good life, with luxury shopping outlets a common sight and a stroll along the pristine white sands to make you feel like a million dollars!

It’s not just about lavish experiences on Phuket though; it’s about beauty, history and nature. We’ve already touched on the beauty of the beaches you’ll experience if you visit Phuket. You can lie and relax for hours, or take a stroll, dipping your toes into the warm waters. The amenities around the beaches are also impressive; you’re never far from a bar, a restaurant, a gift shop or a grocery store. And when you want a change from the beach you should check out the culture of Phuket. Like elsewhere in Thailand it has impressive temples to visit where you can immerse yourself in the history of the area. One of the things you’ll love most when you visit Phuket is the nature of the island. You can pass through the reserve areas and you can pay a visit to the animal centers where volunteers are helping some of the local animals, including dogs and gibbons. There’s even the chance for you to get involved and volunteer or sponsor an animal.

There is certainly a wide variety of activities to occupy your time when you’re visiting Phuket. You can relax and enjoy the scenery, sample the local culture, shop ‘til you drop or party the night away. The choice is yours!
